Hydromissions BB-01 Bailer Bucket Kit: Bailer buckets are the least expensive, most "village accessible" way to draw water from a tube well - and they still work when recharge rates are too slow for a pump! Start out by purchasing a short, 3 ft./1 meter piece of 3” diameter PVC tube and a rope. Then use the simple Bailer Bucket Kit to assemble a bailer that can collect water from smaller diameter wells that are 4”/100mm in diameter.

Kit includes cross bar hardware, foot valve and adaptor, 100 ft. rope, and pulley. Lightweight, only 21 oz (0.6 kg), and compact for easy travel.

WATER PASTEURIZATION

HP-160 HydroPic (formerly called SPADE) It has been known for quite sometime (especially in the dairy industry) that many liquids do not have to be boiled in order to kill harmful bacteria. Instead, disease-causing organisms in water may be killed by exposure to lower levels of heat in a process called pasteurization. Water that has been heated to 65ºC (150ºF) for a short period of time is free from microbes, including Escherichia coli, Rotaviruses, Giardia, and the Hepatitis A virus. At around 70ºC (160ºF), milk and other foods are pasteurized. The HydroPic is a simple, re-usable device that indicates when adequate temperatures for water pasteurization have been reached.
