EDGE Outreach Receives Thompson Reuters Grant
EDGE Outreach (St. Louis) receives recognition from Thomson Reuters
Thomson Reuters is a publicly held global information management corporation. You may recognize the name Reuters from its long history in the news business. In 2010 Thomson Reuters had revenues of $13.1 billion. They specialize in helping corporations acquire the right information at the right time, a service they describe as “the knowledge effect.”
Each year, Thomson Reuters holds a competition to honor community service organizations in which their employees participate. Amy Drescher, daughter of Barb and Ed Walter, works for Thomson Reuter in St. Louis.
Applying on behalf of EDGE Outreach (St. Louis), she submitted an article entitled ‘I Thirst.’ In it she described the mission of EDGE Outreach and her father’s experiences during our team’s response to the earthquake in Haiti. She also explained our collection of used shoes. Then she and her coworkers held a shoe drive.

On October 14, 2011, Thomson Reuters notified her that EDGE Outreach was an award winner. Shortly thereafter, we received a check for $1,000. The news came just days after we ordered five new purifiers for upcoming installations. This grant paid for one of them.
What an amazing world we live in!
Thanks, Amy.
