EDGE on USNS Comfort

Continuing Promise 2011

Continuing Promise is an annual humanitarian event lasting 4 months, planned and deployed by U.S. Southern Command. Non-governmental organizations, military teams and leadership from various nations work together doing various humanitarian work in medical, veterinary, dental, and engineering projects. Ports of call are visited by groups traveling aboard the USNS Comfort or the USS Iwo Jima and located throughout the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

The EDGE team will work off the USNS Comfort hospital ship doing health and hygiene programs, providing pure water hand washing stations for medical personnel to use in medical clinics, and hosting training events for NGO's and military personnel in our water disaster response work. Continuing Promise is from April-August, 2011.
