About EDGE OUTREACH

 sustainable clean safe water training
In a world where more people die from waterborne disease than die of armed conflict, HIV/AIDS, and cancer, EDGE OUTREACH performs a vital role. By empowering ordinary people to provide safe, reliable drinking water and improve community health, EDGE has a global impact. EDGE is an international organization that protects the lives of nearly 400,000 people each year by providing training, and equipment, to individuals seeking to address water quality and sanitation issues in developing countries and post-disaster environments.

Since 2001, EDGE staff members and volunteers have been distributing and installing water purification systems for use in developing communities. EDGE seeks to prevent waterborne illness with truly sustainable solutions by training local people, solving problems creatively in the field, and improving developing communities' self-sufficiency.

EDGE approaches the world’s water crisis holistically. We aim to spread sustainable, life-saving water purification knowledge and technology to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. Our staff and volunteers maintain relationships with communities in countries with serious water quality issues and help locals implement solutions in the areas that need it the most.

We also train ordinary individuals to provide water, health and hygiene, and sanitation solutions to communities in developing countries. Hundreds of passionate people come to EDGE for training every year and leave with a special set of “super powers.” They can:

  • make water safe to drink with a handful of salt and a car battery,
  • repair hand pumps anywhere in the world with a small set of portable tools and
  • prevent deadly diarrheal disease and parasites.

Most importantly, these incredible people leave EDGE with the ability to teach others everything they know about accessing safe water. Our staff, volunteers, and trainees teach people in the developing communities we serve to build, operate, and maintain water purification systems.

The world’s water problem is immense, and there are many ways to tackle it. We believe we must be well equipped in a variety of areas to empower people to provide clean water for themselves and their communities. There is something sacred in the simple act of teaching someone to make water, something so essential, safe to consume.

You can help: Come to an EDGE training session. Serve on a water mission to a developing country. Contribute resources to help us save lives. Collect used shoes for SHOES For WATER.
