at EDGE OUTREACH
The Mission House program is a wonderful partnership with St. Anthony Catholic Church in the downtown area of Louisville, KY. Mission teams are housed in The Mission House, the old convent we've remodeled with central heat and air, meeting space, kitchen, gym, and room to sleep 45 people. Adjacent to The Mission House is the St. Anthony Catholic Church Sanctuary, a breathtaking gothic style building that can easily seat 800 people. Built in 1884 and remodeled after a fire in the 1930's, this space is wonderful for morning and evening gatherings or simply for individuals to find time to pray and hope and ponder.
Mission teams spend their days out in the Louisville community working with EDGE partners and organizations in our area. EDGE mission teams have built and remodeled homeless shelters, planned events for children in neighborhood parks, constructed a chapel for adults with mental retardation, remodeled a hotel for ex-offenders to find community out of prison, painted homes for the elderly and disabled, served meals to homeless people, enlarged a hippotherapy center, developed a safe outdoor area for dementia and alzheimer patients at an inner city nursing home, assisted new refugee families in Louisville, further enabled the vision clinics and water purification pieces of EDGE's ministry.
However, in the midst of the work, relationships on the site move into the soul through good conversation, hugs and letters and emails that extend the experience beyond the brief stay here. God is at work in all this. The relationships made with those we help touch us deeply and transform our lives.
We invite YOU to experience The Mission House!
