There are tens of thousands of hand pumps in the developing world idle for want of simple repairs. You can learn how to repair hand pumps as part of your missions work.
Location: PureWater PureLife Training Center,1500 Arlington Ave., Louisville, KY 40206.
When: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM each day of training.
What you will learn:
• Basic types of hand pumps.
• Makes/models of hand pumps commonly found in the developing world.
• Hand pump construction & operation.
• Hand pump repair tools.
• How to pull hand (cylinder) pumps.
• How to repair cylinder pumps.
• Background on well drilling methods & water well construction.
You'll get plenty of hands-on experience with INDIA MARK II, AFR-DEV and Bush pumps. Come prepared to learn and pull/repair hand pumps multiple times during the training.
Who should attend:
• People involved in short & long term mission work
• Those who work in areas where hand pumps are commonly used to obtain water, e.g. any part of Africa, Haiti, India
• People involved in humanitarian & relief efforts in developing countries
• Water, plumbing and sanitation professionals who want to add hand pump repair to their set of skills
