Mark met Jason while Tweetering. Jason is passionate about helping people who need clean water. He even owns a business which sells water testing kits, H20KITS.COM. Mark introduced Jason to EDGE OUTREACH and Jason is finding ways to help EDGE do more water ministry around the world. Recently Jason called Mark and for an interview over the phone. This portion of their interview is about “I Thirst” and I Thirst-ival. Both are fundraisers for EDGE OUTREACH.

India - Water for Tribal Peoples

At the PureWater PureLife International Water Training conference in October 2007, Jebra Muchahary, Chief Advisor of Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (ICITP) was in attendance. Jebra shared his vision of giving tribal people across India knowledge and tools needed to purify contaminated drinking water. The vision also includes giving tribal leaders the resources to replicate what they learn in their own communities.

The water needs of indigenous tribal peoples in India came to our attention when Jebra Muchahary, Chief Advisor of Indian Confederation of Indigenous and Tribal Peoples (ICITP) attended the 2007 International Water Training. A partnering congregation with EDGE, Dardenne Presbyterian Church of St. Louis, MO, has visited with Jebra in India and an ambitious training project will take place there in April 2009.

ed. Dave says this training will take place in March, but the date has been changed to April 28-30, 2009 since the interview.

Kurtis & Claudia Daniels

Kurtis and Claudia were the team leaders of a nineteen day Costa Rica trip. The team was made up of students from DePaw University, an EDGE intern from Berea College, and two vision team leaders. When an earthquake changed the teams plans, they were joined by four volunteers from Louisville, KY who bought equipment and supplies to help in the area most affected by the earthquake.

Melissa

Melissa is a student at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and a long time friend and colleague with EDGE. As a member of a team she did her first water system in Costa Rica in 2004. She was 15 years old. Melissa has since become one of our best trainers.

She goes to Mexico for three weeks in January 2009 and will install (by herself) a mini water treatment plant in a community center near Merida, Mexico. In this podcast Melissa talks to D.E. Adams and Mark Hogg the week before she leaves.
