EDGE OUTREACH is a faith-based nonprofit; training and sending people and organizations to take integrated water solutions where they are most needed in the world, hosting vision clinics for refugees and the poor, and networking local agencies and volunteers to provide community needs in Louisville, KY, our home town. In September 2007 EDGE created SWIMSERVE.COM to train and mobilize college students to use the most efficient water solutions available, take and install them overseas, and train indigenous leaders in their use and maintenance.

More Good Stuff

March 9-15 a water team of Baptist Campus Ministry students from the University of Kentucky with EDGE leaders went to the Dominican Republic. They installed a water purifier and taught health education in a village school about two hours from Santo Domingo. This video about their trip was posted recently on YouTube.

March 4-8 Rick Jenner was at Living Waters Pump Repair Training near Houston, Texas. Rick is now ready to do pump repair anywhere in the world and will be training other EDGE volunteers at the EDGE OUTREACH Water School in Louisville, Kentucky.

February 24-25 we had our first Hand Pump Repair classes in the EDGE OUTREACH Water School. Classes were Sunday night, Monday morning, and Monday night. Larry Brantley from Dallas, Texas, who taught well drilling at the Water Conference last fall, was our expert resource. These classes were introductory but still hands on. Everyone participated in disaaembly and reassembley of a two kinds of pumps, a Bush Pump and a Mark II. Everyone was pretty jazzed by this experience and learning an applicable knowledge that can change lives. Photo here.

A student water team from Berea College was in Costa Rica January 8-24, 2008. We have reports, photos and video here. BereaTeam08a

A team of 5 women students from Murray State University were with the DR team and installed a purifier at the YWAM base all by themselves. Gordon Atkinson, a.k.a. Real Live Preacher, was part of the team and took pictures of the YWAM install as well as other activities of this trip. SEE HERE MurrayStTeam1
